Position Summary The Security Manager will lead a dedicated team committed to creating a safe, welcoming environment for guests and staff. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on oversight of security operations, emergency preparedness, and risk management. As the primary security liaison for internal teams and external partners, you'll play a critical role in protecting our campus, employees and guests. You'll have flexibility for administrative tasks alongside scheduled hours and compensated on-call availability for urgent situations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities - Oversee Security for ~6-acre campus, including courtyard opening and closure, roving patrol of campus and perimeter and event security.
- Lead, coach, and develop a Security team of ~8, including hiring, scheduling, performance management, and training.
- Design and implement security strategies, policies, and procedures to mitigate risks and ensure compliance.
- Maintain a weekly on-site schedule while providing 24/7 on-call availability for emergencies, with compensated on-call duties.
- Primary liaison with internal teams and external partners, including Seattle Center Security and Seattle Police and Fire Departments.
- Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, including medical, safety, and security incidents.
- Apply advanced de-escalation techniques to resolve conflicts and maintain a safe environment.
- Manage ID badge and key issuance, record keeping, and access control systems.
- Prepare and maintain accurate reports, logs, and incident documentation.
- Provide exceptional customer service and assist guests with wayfinding.
- Perform other duties within the scope of the role assigned.
Position Requirements: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: - Advanced knowledge of security principles, emergency response protocols, and risk management.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication.
- Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism.
- Develop and implement security strategies.
- Handle crisis situations with sound judgment and flexibility.
- Models' exceptional emotional intelligence, de-escalating conflict, while reinforcing rules and expectations.
- Maintain professionalism and positivity during challenging interactions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new platforms.
Qualifications Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years of security experience, including supervisory or managerial responsibilities.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (or within six months of hire).
- Ability to respond onsite within 20 minutes when on call.
- Successful completion of post offer, pre-employment background check, and drug/alcohol screening.
Preferred
- Prior experience in law enforcement, military, or security management.
- College coursework in criminal justice or related field.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions - Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs for extended periods with or without reasonable accommodation.
